As Donald Trump era dawns, the educated and elite community around the world is looking for how the United States of America (US) is going to visualize the higher Educational System in the country and whether US is striving and aspiring to be on the top of the ladder in the domain of Global Educational Facilitation in the coming decade?

education as a global commodity

Globalisation in the late 20 th and early 21 st century has truly been worldwide in reach with its echoes being felt deep in the formulation and modification of culture, society and institutions. Permeating every aspect of society, the impact of globalisation on higher education has been, and continues to be, immense. While the term has become a common buzzword in almost any contemporary discussion, it still remains tough to conceptualise as it functions and impacts on a number of different levels. For the purpose of this article we will focus on the effect of globalisation on the education sector.

General Focus

SEP - A Lifelong learning experience

A chilly Sunday morning, an aromatic cup of Darjeeling tea, the morning newspaper and the lazy winter sunshine streaming through the glass window wrapping warmth around me. It is indeed satisfying to sit back and wait for the day to unwrap, to wait for life to walk in through the hallway, to pamper me, to arouse me, to enlighten me to the world around. As a teacher, life has taken me through myriad journeys, but as I lie on my couch today reminiscing the past- the SEP experience comes upon me as a cherished memory, cajoling my thoughts to carry them back to Cedar Rapids , IOWA and the cozy corner below the staircase at Kennedy High School.

Young India

From the day that she became an independent sovereign State, India has been poised to become a momentous country. The incidents that have unfolded in the history of modern India have only played their part in latently being sub-landmarks of a greater destiny awaiting her. Starting with the 1857 Sepoy mutiny and building up to the auspicious night of 14th August 1947 when the clock struck 12 at midnight and India stepped out from the old to the new, when an age ended and when the soul of a nation long suppressed found utterance. The Inception Speech

California 2006. The TED Conference, an agglomeration of ideas and a scintillating light which penetrates through the darkness of ignorance. Here discussion is considered an exchange of knowledge, argument of obtuseness. Here Sir Robinson narrated an anecdote which inspired me to don the chimerical thinking cap. A group of 4 year old children organized a school play, a play based on the story of Jesus. The play commences with the three kings walking towards Jesus, to bestow upon him three gifts. The first “king” approaches Jesus, and says, “I bring you gold.” The second child presents Jesus with myrrh. The third child, who faces difficulty in pronouncing the word frankincense, says, “Frank sent this.” Robinson then had an epiphany.

Research

The effects of mentorship on recruitment and retention

In this work, LM in three categories of students – motivated, unmotivated and overmotivated – was explored. Fifty graduate students, which were current and prospective school teachers and took the author’s online psychology courses in 2012-2013, participated in the study. The research methodology included developing the rules of coding students’ course work, designing the 100-scale of LM for representing their individual as well as collective data, and collecting info about students’ academic achievement in this course. According to the results, students’ LM has two co-existing components – pragmatic (grade-oriented) and cognitive (knowledge- oriented).

Comparing Chinese and American Curriculum and Instruction in Psychology

As China becomes a more international platform, studying abroad is becoming a common choice for Chinese students. Although business is the most popular major that Chinese students would choose abroad, a number of students are interested in psychology. For a good study experience, it is essential to understand the differences of curriculum and instruction between Chinese universities and American universities. In addition to language issues, Chinese students might encounter other problems when studying abroad. Chinese students are used to Chinese learning styles. When they study in a different academic environment, it is difficult for them to adapt their styles immediately.
